SideStep

The members of SideStep are some of the best players you’ll hear anywhere. The music is a mix of old school R&B, Funk, Rock, Dance, Smooth Jazz and Adult Contemporary.  Always entertaining, the band has great stage presence and share a chemistry on stage that makes it fun for the audience to be part of the show!

 

Pat Barclay: Lead Guitar/Vocal

Celebrating 50 years in the music biz.  Pat has worked with the likes of BB King, Boz Scaggs, The Drifters, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Coke Escovedo, Peter Rivera (Rare earth fame), The Baja Band w/ David Raitt.

While living in the Bay Area he was an on-call musician at Wally Heider Studios doing demos and projects for others. After moving back to Spokane, Pat has had the pleasure of working with many local bands including, Shirley Goodness and Mercy, Wizzard, Loose Ends, Aurora Mesa (as a bass player), Jazz Conspiracy, Mumbo Jumbo, The Filter tips, to mention a few.. Local founding member for 19 years with Big Mumbo Blues Band. Pat has been an on-call musician for sit in's and many recording projects. He sticks out as a Left-handed upside down guitar man. This doesn't seem to slow him down much.  He's always ready to jump in on many different styles when his flavor is needed.

 

Danny McCollim: Keyboards/vocal

A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Boston, Massachusetts. In his senior year he was a member of the prestigious “Berklee Recording Band” under the direction of Herb Pomeroy. An accomplished pianist, composer and arranger, he has performed with the Spokane Symphony under Gunthar Schular, the Spokane Jazz Orchestra, the Violin Jazz summits I, II and III under Gunthar Schular and such artists as saxophonists Michael Brecker, Freddie Hubbard, Dave Weckl, Steve Smith; the Mills Brothers, the Platters, the Drifters, The Cab Calloway Orchestra, The Diamonds, The Four Aces.  Local groups in the Spokane area include, Jazz Conspiracy, Charlie Butts and the Filter Tips, and StepBothers to mention a few.

Danny is currently on the faculty at SFCC teaching courses in Music Production in the popular Audio Engineering program and is the touring keyboard player with Motown recording artist Peter Rivera from the band Rare Earth. 

 

Jon Goforth: Saxophones

Jon tells stories in music. His career in music spans more than 45 years, performing and recording thousands of times.

Originally from Seattle, Jon has played and recorded with local notables Boz Scaggs, Duffy Bishop, Jay Thomas, Jeff Simmons, the incomparable Rich Dangel, and blues firebrand Nick Vigarino. He performed regularly with the Wailers.  In 2017 Jon was voted best blues saxophone player by the Washington Blues Society. His virtuosity and intuitive feel for music allow him to cross a multitude of genres: funk, R&B, pop, jazz, classical, rock n’ roll, Brazilian, Latin, Reggae and other world music lexicons.
